There’s little doubt that massage helps relieve pain, but researchers disagree about why it works. New research shows that regular massage can be an effective and lasting medical treatment for low- back pain. A scientifically rigorous study of massage, recently published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, followed 262 back pain sufferers. After 10 weeks the massage group reported a 47 per cent improvement.
